At Abia Community organization of Ontario, our Women’s Wing in Toronto is the heartbeat of our community’s growth, compassion, and empowerment. We believe that when women thrive, families and communities flourish — and that belief drives everything we do.
Our Mission
The Abia Community Women’s Wing exists to empower women of Abia origin in the diaspora through education, entrepreneurship, health awareness, and cultural preservation. We focus on building a network of women who support one another and contribute meaningfully to society — both in Canada and back home in Nigeria.
Our Core Programs
1. Women Empowerment & Skills Development
We host regular workshops and mentorship programs designed to help women gain new skills, advance their careers, and start sustainable businesses. Our goal is to reduce financial vulnerability among immigrant women and increase their participation in the Canadian economy.
2. Health & Wellness Initiatives
Through seminars and health fairs, we provide critical information on mental health, preventive care, nutrition, and maternal well-being. Many of our members are healthcare professionals who volunteer their time to ensure that every woman in our community has access to trusted guidance and resources.
3. Youth & Family Support Programs
Our women understand the importance of strong families. We organize family enrichment programs, parenting seminars, and youth mentorship initiatives to help the next generation of Abians in Toronto grow up with confidence, cultural pride, and purpose.
4. Community Outreach & Charity
Abia Community Women actively support charitable causes — from local food drives in Toronto to empowerment programs for widows and orphans in Abia State, Nigeria. We collaborate with other organizations to reach underserved populations, provide relief materials, and fund education for disadvantaged children.
Why Our Work Matters
Immigrant women face unique challenges — from adjusting to new cultural systems to accessing employment and healthcare. By creating a safe and supportive community, Abia Women in Toronto help women rise above these barriers, become leaders, and build a better future for themselves and their families.
When funders partner with us, they are investing in real impact: healthier families, stronger communities, and sustainable change that crosses borders.
How You Can Support
